Traders meet BJP MLA in UP’s Firozabad, ask for action against GST raids

GST Raid

Traders in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad held a meeting against the raids conducted by goods and services tax (GST) officials. After the meeting, a delegation of traders, led by the provincial president of the UP Industry Trade Board, Mukund Mishra, met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Manish Asija and handed over a memorandum.

Traders alleged that those who are paying tax regularly are also being harassed by the GST officials and therefore, action needs to be taken.

GST officers had raided electronic shops, grocery stores, clothing stores, hotel restaurants. The traders said when they talked to GST team leaders Vinod Kumar and Satish Kumar Singh about the issue, they said that traders do not need to worry about this as it is a routine process.

MLA Manish Asija said harassment of any businessman will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Ambesh Kumar Sharma, Metropolitan President of the Board of Trade, said, “Traders are being harassed in the name of the GST survey and are being intimidated. Due to which, there is a lot of anger among the traders. They have demanded that whenever GST action is taken, the business leaders should also be informed to maintain transparency”.
